Auto-update for Windows streams and container (standard) applications
We are adding an auto-update option for Windows streaming and container (standard) applications. This means your instances (e.g. those used by customers) will stay up to date automatically, saving you effort of doing it manually.
You can easily enable this option when you create new applications or find it in the settings later on.
This feature can be especially helpful to ensure automatic security updates, helping you keep your applications secure without extra effort. With this new feature, we’re catching up with what third-party services already offer.
Update strategy
There are two update modes:
- Automatic: The system updates the application version in all projects when a new version is published and approved.
- Manual: Projects can choose to update to the latest version when they wish. Downgrades are not possible.
Choose the strategy that fits your architecture and data separation. For example, if your Cloud Hub application is part of a larger system, you may want to keep it updated to the lastest version all the time. On the other hand, if your application depend on hardware or other artifacts which are specific for each project, you may want to let the project decide when to update.
You will find the full update strategy here, once released.
